You can clearly see the higher shares of internet users are concrentrated in countries in the developed regions (e.g. USA, Canada, Western Europe, Australia). Contrariwise emerging and developing regions (e.g. Central Africa, Southeast Asia) can only show low shares of internet users. So there is a obvious correlation between the level of economic development and the access for people to the internet.
But the significance of having access to the internet considering the globalization are getting more and more important nowadays. Therefore it can be assumed that in future the shares of internet users in emerging and developing countries will increase progressively, especially in combination with the economic and infrastructural development.
